Tues, Mar 2, 2021: Q&A with Matt Hottle (Redhawk Venture Group)
Organized by the Private Markets Club, this event will feature a Q&A between Matt Hottle (Redhawk Venture Group and UD alum) and Professor Bridges (Economics Department). This is a great opportunity to learn more about venture capital funds. The event will take place at 5pm on Zoom (see email announcement for link).

Mon, Nov 16, 2020: Philadelphia Federal Reserve Guest Speaker
At 5pm (via Zoom), a representative will give a presentation on the economic outlook in the United States, specifically designed for college students, followed by a brief Q&A session. To register, please click the link in the invitation email. After registering, you will receive an automated message that includes the Zoom meeting link, the meeting password, and optional links to add the event to your calendar. During the meeting, you can type questions into the text chat. BHEC officers will gather and consolidate questions to ask the speaker. At the end, you can also turn on your microphone to ask the speaker questions directly, time permitting. (Otherwise, please keep your mic on mute to prevent audio feedback.)

A Lerner Career Services representative will provide information on “best practices” to prepare for the job market, including LinkedIn, Handshake, and interviewing tips. Information about upcoming elections will also be provided. We will have Insomnia Cookies! 5-6pm. **This event qualifies as a BUAD110 Passport Event; to get credit, you must sign in at the beginning, and sign out at the end.

Wed, May 1, 2019: Annual Case Competition
Environmental Case Competition at 7pm in Kirkbride 004. BHEC, the Delaware Environmental Institute, and the UD Green Grants Program will co-host the 5th Annual Case Competition. Student groups who were chosen as finalists will present their ideas to a panel of judges. See the Case Competition page for more information. This will also serve as our final Spring semester meeting, and our VIP Tutor and Loyalty Program Winner awards will be presented.

Tues, Nov 13, 2018: Club Meeting
Our November meeting will be in Purnell 325 from 5:15-6pm. First, we will quickly discuss BHEC officer positions for anyone interested in potentially running in our upcoming election! A brief Q&A period will give you a chance to see if BHEC is right for you; a leadership position could be rewarding and great for your resume! Second, a Lerner Career Services representative will give a brief presentation on how to navigate CareerShift, a resource you could potentially use down the road to find jobs: “Named ‘The Best Job Search Tool on the Internet’, CareerShift is available to individual users, institutions, and organizations… Using an exclusively licensed, patent-pending set of integrated tools, job seekers are able to find employment more easily and conveniently.”
Tues, Oct 23, 2018: CRFB Interactive Workshop
A representative from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget will visit from Washington, DC, to host a hands-on federal debt simulation at 6pm. We will discuss ways to eliminate our current debt crisis. Please bring a laptop/tablet to participate in the activity. We will be providing free food! The CRFB is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization committed to educating the public on issues with significant fiscal policy impact. Northwestern Mutual is back for another BHEC meeting! Last year’s seminar on Financial Tips for College Students provided useful information on everything from credit cards to retirement planning. The JPMorgan Panel Event has become a successful annual tradition where JPM employees (including UD alumni) answer questions about their experiences. This is an opportunity to network with recruiters in a small setting, or just sit back and take in everything the panel has to offer… including an inside perspective on what it’s really like to work for JPM. Wed, Oct 19, 2016: Special Event with Dr. William Poole
The Club will host Dr. William Poole (former President of the St. Louis Fed and Distinguished Scholar at UD) at 7pm. Dr. Poole is writing a book about political and government corruption in America, and he wants feedback from students. The book is meant for a general audience (i.e. it is not a textbook). This is a fantastic (and rare!) opportunity for students to work with a distinguished economist. Even if you don’t want to provide feedback, Dr. Poole’s presentation will be interesting and enlightening! Plus, Insomnia Cookies will be served!
